DESIGN 6

THE SIXTH DESIGN

A BUSINESS CARD

For the sixth and final design pictured here, I decided to create an English-tutoring business card, in order to tutor students at the high school and college levels. Since this is what my degree is going to be in, I wanted to create something in a field where I would know what I’m talking about, and therefore be able to communicate effectively. In terms of the design, I really wanted to go for something fun and animated, and almost chalk-board like. That is why the font colors are simple, with only white and yellow. And then with the pictures, I wanted to create this magnet on a chalkboard feel. Ultimately, I feel as though the design is crisp and very effective on what it is supposed to convey. The reason I wanted to offer free tutoring is also to make this more accessible. Everyone deserves a free and worthwhile education that will lead them onto a good path of life, which is why public schools are so important, as they offer a lot of these free tutoring programs. And as the diverse writings of Digital Griots stated, “…there is not a solitary writer, nor an isolated reader.” This means that no matter the person, everyone deserves a chance to understand what they’re seeing before them, and what they’re writing and reading. I wanted to make this business card’s services diverse, while also offering up a professional and fun looking design. Overall, as someone who loves the art and act of teaching, this design is very close to my heart and my work.
